Quinn, Redmond & Allen Earn All-ACC Accolades

DURHAM, N.C. ? The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) office released the 2007 All-ACC squads on Tuesday with three Blue Devils earning accolades. Junior Lorraine Quinn and sophomore Elisabeth Redmond were named to the All-ACC first and second teams, respectively, while Rebecca Allen was selected to the All-Freshman team by a vote of the league head coaches.

Quinn, a native of Farmingdale, N.Y., has been the anchor in the midfield for the Blue Devils all season starting all 18 matches. She has totaled three goals, three assists and nine points to go along with 26 shots. The 5-2 Quinn scored key goals against Maryland, Boston College and Elon, while posting assists versus North Carolina, Elon and Yale.

Duke's leading scorer this season, Redmond, earned second team honors after registering six goals, 11 assists and 23 points, while starting all 18 matches. The 5-6 forward has totaled three game-winning goals to go along with eight assists on goals that have tied matches or been the game-winners. Her 11 assists leads the ACC and her 0.61 assists per game ranks eighth nationally. Redmond's 11 assists is also tied for second on Duke's single-season assist chart.

Allen, a freshman forward from Jenks, Okla., came on strong during ACC action this season posting four goals in 10 league matches. Overall, Allen has registered five goals, two assists and 12 points on the year. In ACC games only, she ranked tied for fifth with four tallies. Allen came off the bench against 25th-ranked Miami on senior day to register two second half goals to lift the Blue Devils to a 4-2 victory. She has also posted the game-winning goal at N.C. State, a goal versus Maryland and against Elon.

Earning top ACC honors in 2007 were Florida State's Mami Yamaguchi (Offensive Player of the Year), Virginia's Becky Sauerbrunn (Defensive Player of the Year), Miami's Brittney Steinbruch (Freshman of the Year) and Miami's Tricia Taliaferro (Coach of the Year).

Duke will next face 11th-ranked and second-seeded Wake Forest on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the ACC Championship, which will be played at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
