DURHAM, N.C. - Former Duke swimmer Lauren Hancock qualified for the Olympic Trials last weekend, securing a time of 2:19.36 in the 200 individual medley at the Speedo Champions Series 2007 Summer Southern Section at Auburn University.
Hancock, who surpassed the Olympic qualifying time of 2:20.49 at Auburn last weekend, will now compete at the Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb., starting on June 29, 2008.
A 2004 Duke graduate, Hancock competed in butterfly and individual medley races as a Blue Devil and served as captain of the women's swimming and diving team for the 2003-04 season. The Pendleton, S.C., native spent a year as an assistant coach at Duke upon graduation and since has returned to swimming competitively. Hancock currently trains in Knoxville, Tenn., with the Pilot Aquatic Club of Knoxville (PACK).
