DURHAM, N.C. ? Ashley Twichell of the Duke women's swimming team has been named the Ronald McDonald House Charities Student-Athlete of the Week.
Over the past two meets, the sophomore from Fayetteville, N.Y., has been undefeated in the 500 and the 1000-meter freestyle events while setting new pool records in the 1000 at both the Duke and N.C. State pools.
Twichell has helped the Duke women get off to a 5-0 start this season.
Twichell competed in three events at the NCAA Championships as a freshman last year and earned All-America honors in the mile freestyle. She then participated in the U.S. Olympic Trials over the summer.
