Colella Announces 2008-09 Swimming & Diving Slate

DURHAM, N.C. - Duke swimming and diving head coach Dan Colella announced the Blue Devils' meet schedule for the 2008-09 season on Thursday, as Duke is set to kick off the fall campaign with the annual Blue/White Meet on Oct 4 before diving into regular season competition on Oct. 18 at UNC Wilmington.
The Blue Devils' first ACC meet will take place on Oct. 25 as Duke hosts Miami and Campbell (women only) at Taishoff Aquatic Pavilion. A two-day dual meet will then take place when Duke travels to Raleigh, N.C., on Oct. 31 for competition versus N.C. State and Maryland before returning to Durham to continue action against the Wolfpack and the Terrapins on Nov. 1.
To close out the fall slate, the Blue Devils will travel to Columbia, S.C., for the Nike Cup Invitational (Nov. 20-22), while the divers will also compete at the Ohio State Diving Invitational on Dec. 5-7.
Duke returns to action on Jan. 10 when it plays host to Davidson and South Carolina before hitting the road for a dual match with Gardner-Webb on Jan. 17. The Blue Devils then end the regular season with three meets in seven days against ACC foes - Jan. 25 at Virginia, Jan. 30 at North Carolina, and Jan. 31 at Clemson.
The Women's ACC Championship is slated for Feb. 18-21 while the Men's ACC Championship is set for Feb. 25-28 ACC Championship, with both league meets set to take place in College Park, Md.
"In planning this year's schedule our goal was to continue to challenge our team to take it to new heights," said Colella. "I feel confident that we have that type of schedule and I know the team will rise to the occasion. We look forward to the 2008-09 year and look to continue moving upward within the ACC and at the national level."
