DURHAM, N.C. – Most of the students are home enjoying a break from school and recovering after a strenuous week of finals, but the Duke divers remained in Durham, plugging away at practice and getting in a day of competition this afternoon.
It was an intimate meet, seeing a total of 11 divers between Duke, NC State, and Ohio State. On the men's side,
Nick McCrory secured first place on the one-meter board to remain undefeated on the year, scoring 357.23 points. Freshman
Jordan Long and sophomore
Cody Kolodziejzyk went four, five for the Blue Devils, recording marks of 325.23 and 319.52, respectively.
Only the women competed on the 10-meter tower. Senior
Julie Brummond finished in second place with a score of 240.00, falling just 16 points short of her own school record in the event.
In the women's three-meter competition, sophomore
Abby Johnston took second place. She registered 318.56 points in the event, edging Ohio State's Chelsea Davis by eight points.
The Duke swimmers will be back in action on January 2 from Key Largo, Fla. but the divers will not compete again until January 8 when they travel to Colorado Springs to take on Air Force and NC State.
