DURHAM, N.C. - Duke swimming and diving will host North Carolina State in a dual meet with the women of Campbell University on Friday, Oct. 29 at 5:00 p.m. at the Taishoff Aquatic Pavilion.
The Wolfpack are three meets into their season and owns a 3-0 record on the men's side, as well as a 2-1 record on the women's side. Over the weekend, the Pack's men defeated Maryland, while the women also fell to the Terps. Both teams also edged out Davidson College on Saturday.
The Campbell women are coming off a recent loss to N.C. State. In their opener, the Camels defeated Liberty College and then defeated N.C. A & T, 86-9, the next weekend.
The Blue Devils opened ACC competition Saturday, when they hosted Maryland. The men were able to edge out the Terps 168-124, moving their record the 2-0 (1-0 ACC).
The men are off to a solid start, setting five pool records in competition. Looking to set his first record at home is sophomore Ben Hwang, who posted his top times in the 50 and 100 free at UNC Wilmington.
The women are still looking for their first win of the season, after some tough losses to the Seahawks of UNC Wilmington Maryland.
The Blue Devil women are coming off a great finish from last season and have been looking to capitalize on it. Also looking to make her mark is freshman diver Haley Ishimatsu. The US Olympian has posted three first and one second place finish in the season thus far.
Both the Blue Devils and the Camels are looking to knock off the Wolfpack. Duke lost to N.C. State last season in its ACC opener, 129-171 (men) and 143-155 (women).
This weekend's match will conclude the fall portion of the 2010-11 Blue Devil swimmers schedule. Duke will resume action on January 15, when they host another duel meet featuring the Gamecocks of South Carolina and Queens University of Charlotte at 1:00 p.m. in the Taishoff Aquatic Pavilion.
The Duke divers will next head up the road to Chapel Hill to compete in the Nike Cup on Thursday, Nov. 18 and Friday, Nov. 19. The Blue Devils will then host the closing day of competition, Saturday, Nov. 20, at the Taishoff Aquatic Pavilion.
