PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Mary Clayton and Monica Gorny won
the doubles main draw consolation championship at the Riviera/ITA
Women's All-American Championships on Saturday, Oct. 8.
Duke's Clayton and Gorny faced off against Alabama's Alex Clay and
Taylor Lindsey in the consolation doubles semifinals. Clayton and Gorny
won by a score of 8-2 and advanced to the consolation finals. The Blue
Devil duo won the doubles crown by a score of 8-5 over Georgia's Nadja
Gilchrist and Lilly Kimbell.
The Blue Devil pair of Nadine Fahoum and Ellah Nze won it's main draw
doubles quarterfinal match by a score of 8-6 over Anna Bartenstein and
Bianca Eickhorn from Miami. Fahoum and Nze advanced to the semifinals
and fell to fifth-seeded conference rivals Josipa Bek and Keri Wong from
Clemson in a hard fought tiebreaker 9-8 (4).
The Duke women will compete next in the ITA Regionals in near-by Chapel Hill, N.C., Oct. 21-26.
