Revisiting the Championship Part 3: Duke Edges Virginia

DURHAM, N.C.-In part four of revisiting Duke's run to the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship, GoDuke.com takes a look back at some of the highlights of the NCAA Semifinal versus Virginia. Senior Max Quinzani delivered the game-winning goal with 12 seconds remaining as the Blue Devils upset top-ranked Virginia, 14-13, in front of 44,389 fans at M&T Bank Stadium. Fellow attackman Ned Crotty delivered the assist.

Quinzani finished with four goals while sophomore midfielder Justin Turri tied a career high with three scores on the night. Duke had difficulty establishing an offensive rhythm early, but went on a 7-0 scoring run late in the third quarter to garner its first win over ACC foe Virginia in the NCAA Tournament. The win was the third of Duke's necessary four to capture the program's first national title.
