DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke swimming and diving teams will head to Chapel Hill on Thursday and Friday, November 18-19, to compete in the 2010 Janis Hape Dowd Nike Cup Championships at the Maurice J. Koury Natatorium on the campus of North Carolina.
Participating teams include North Carolina, Duke, N.C. State, South Carolina, East Carolina, Navy, West Virginia, Old Dominion, James Madison and Syracuse.
Diving:
The preliminary rounds will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, where the men will compete on the one-meter boards. The women will begin three-meter preliminaries at 1:00 p.m. The men's finals for the day will be held at 7:00 p.m. and the women at 8:00 p.m.
On Friday the women will begin one-meter preliminaries at 11:00 a.m. followed by the men at 1:00 p.m. on the three-meter. The women will begin finals for the day at 7:00 p.m., while the men will be at 8:00 p.m.
The top four male and female divers each day will automatically make the finals. Divers coming in fifth through twelfth will compete in a quarterfinal round at 3:00 p.m. each day.
On Saturday, November 20, Duke will host the closing day of platform competition at the Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion. The women's preliminaries begin at 11:00 a.m., while the men will start at 2:00 p.m. The women will begin finals at approximately 6:30 p.m., and the men will follow immediately after.
Swimming:
There will be six sessions for the three-day event, two sessions per day with the preliminaries held in the morning and finals held in the evening.
The event is non-ticketed and admission is free at both the Koury Natatorium and Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion. Doors open one hour prior to the starting event each day.
