Blue Devils Close 2010 with Temple on Thursday in Cameron...
Coming off a nine-day break for the Christmas holiday, the third-ranked Duke women's basketball team (12-0) will host Temple on Thursday, Dec. 30 at 7:00 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium. It will mark Duke's final contest in the year 2010, where the Blue Devils totaled a 31-4 overall record.
The game will be aired live on www.GoDuke.com via GoDuke Inside Access. Fans can also catch the game live on the Blue Devil Sports Network, which will be aired live on 620 AM, with Steve Barnes (PXP) and Morgan Patrick (Color) on the air. The Blue Devils will look to defend their 14-game winning streak in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Duke will be playing only its second game over the last 10 days and the third game over the last 19 days due to exam break and the Christmas holiday.
The Blue Devils are currently 12-0 and are off to the best start for a Joanne P. McCallie team over her 19 years as a head coach. The Blue Devils are currently ranked No. 3 in the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Division I Coaches Polls.
Noting Duke...
Senior Jasmine Thomas has started 72 straight games ... as a team, Duke has taken 17 charges with freshman Chelsea Gray leading with five ... A Look At Temple...
Temple enters the contest with a 7-5 overall record and is coming off a 65-55 loss at Eastern Michigan prior to the Christmas break. The Owls had won five in a row prior to the loss.
Guided by Head Coach Tonya Cardoza, who is in her fourth year, Temple is led by Kristen McCarthy (12.8 points, 4.6 rebounds), Owedia Wallace (12.8 points, 3.7 rebounds) and Shey Peddy (12.3 points, 5.0 rebounds).
The Series With Temple...
Duke and Temple will meet for the sixth time in school history and third time in Durham, N.C. The Blue Devils lead the overall series 5-0 with victories in 1998, two in 2007 and one each the last two years.
Over her 19 years as a head coach, Joanne P. McCallie owns a record of 4-0 all-time against Temple. McCallie has won three of those contests at Duke and the other while at Michigan State with a 78-50 win in 2003.
Duke Versus the Atlantic 10...
Duke holds an all-time record of 27-9 against teams from the Atlantic 10 Conference -- Charlotte (7-3), Dayton (0-1), Duquesne (1-0), George Washington (1-1), La Salle (0-1), Rhode Island (1-0), Richmond (6-1), St. Joseph's (4-1), Temple (5-0) and Xavier (2-1).
The Blue Devils have won 14 games in a row against Atlantic 10 opponents and will face its second straight A-10 opponent. Duke's last loss against the A-10 was in 1996 when it fell, 48-54, to George Washington in the ACC Big Four Classic in Greensboro, N.C. Coach P has totaled an all-time record of 18-5 against Atlantic 10 teams -- Charlotte (3-0), Dayton (0-1), George Washington (0-2), Massachusetts (2-1), Rhode Island (5-1), St. Bonaventure (3-0), Temple (4-0) and Xavier (1-0).

Duke has jumped out to a 12-0 start for the fifth time in school history -- 2006-07 (30-0), 2005-06 (20-0), 2002-03 (20-0), 1987-88 (12-0).

At Home This Year...
Duke has totaled a 6-0 record at home this season and has won those games by a 17.7 per game margin. Senior Jasmine Thomas is averaging 14.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals in those contests.
The Blue Devils are hitting only 40.8 percent from the field, but are draining 38.9 percent from downtown. Duke is averaging 14.5 steals a contest.
Duke's defense has been solid as the Blue Devils are holding opponents to 51.7 points, 40.8 percent from the field and 28.7 percent from downtown, while also forcing 23.3 turnovers.
Looking Back at Xavier...
The Blue Devils posted another solid victory on Dec. 21 against No. 4 Xavier to improve to 12-0. Duke was held to a season-low 46 points and the point total was the lowest since notching 45 against top-ranked Purdue on March 28, 1999 in the National Championship game.
The lowest point total in school history in a Duke victory is 45 on Feb. 1, 1991 against Maryland as the Blue Devils won 45-44. The 46 points versus Xavier was the second-lowest point total in a Duke victory in school history. The Blue Devils have notched three victories when scoring in the 40s -- a 49-44 win against Rutgers on Dec. 6, 2007 was the other game.
At Home in Cameron Indoor Stadium...
Since Head Coach Joanne P. McCallie took over as head coach at Duke in 2007-08, she has guided the Blue Devils to a 46-4 overall record in Cameron Indoor Stadium. During that stretch, the Blue Devils posted a 14-0 mark in 2008-09, which was only the second undefeated home season in school history.
Duke is currently riding a 14-game winning streak in Cameron and has won 37 out of the last 38 games at home.
In Cameron Indoor Stadium, Duke has won 46 out of the last 50 contests, 60 out of the last 64 and 141 out of the last 151 games since 2000-01.
