DURHAM, N.C.- The 2010 ConocoPhillips USA Swiming National Championships in Irvine, Calif., finished on Saturday, Aug. 7. Among the Duke swimmers competing were Ashley Twichell, Emily Barber, Ben Hwang, and Ben Tuben.
The meet took place at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine. The meet served as the selection meet for the 2010 Mutual of Omaha Pan Pacific Championships, which will take place in Irvine, Aug. 18-22, and will feature top competitors from Japan, Australia, Canada and more than 20 other countries. Both Nationals and the Pan Pacific Championships will also serve as the selection meets for the 2011 FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China.
Ashley Twichell finished 68th and 27th in the 400m and 800m women's freestyle with a time of 4:20.77 and 8:51.78. Emily Barber took 36th and 26th place in the 100m and 200m women's breaststroke with a time of 1:12.05 and 2:34.09.
On the men's side, Ben Hwang placed 42nd in the 50m men's freestyle with a time of 23.53, while Ben Tuben finished 97th overall in the 100m men's butterfly with a time of 57.35.
