DURHAM, N.C. - Sophomore Nick McCrory and incoming freshman Haley Ishimatsu competed in the AT&T National Diving Championships, August 10-15. The event took place at the Student Rec Center Natatorium at Texas A&M.
McCrory, a sophomore from Chapel Hill N.C., finished first overall in the men's synchronized platform diving with a score of 450. The 2010 NCAA Champion led in both rounds of the competition with a score of 459.15 in the quarterfinals heading into the finals.
Freshman Haley Ishimatsu also finished first overall in the senior women platform diving with a total score of 340.95. Ishimatsu, a native of Seal Beach, Calif., placed fourth in the quarterfinals with a score of 296.5 and first in the semifinals with 351.75., ledger.
McCrory and Ishimatsu were the only two Duke divers to compete in the AT&T Nationals, but managed to bring home a 30th place finish for the Duke Aquatic Diving Program with a meet score of 15 points.
The Duke swimming and diving program kicks off their season on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. at the Seahawk Natatorium against UNC Wilmington.
