DURHAM, N.C. - Masters diver John Conner was recently inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame (ISHF) at its annual ceremonies held at the Hyatt Regency on Sept. 17, in Dallas, Texas, in conjunction with the United States Aquatic Sports convention.
Conner was a member of the Duke swimming and diving team who graduated in 1951. A product of Falling Rock, W. Va., he was the first member of the Blue Devils swimming and diving program to earn All-America honors. As a freshman, Conner suffered only two losses on the season and was the undefeated Southern Conference champion his sophomore, junior and senior year.
Connor was inducted into the Duke Sports Hall of Fame in 1990 along with three other collegiate athletes.
The ISHF was established in 1965 and is a non-profit educational organization located in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Recognized by FINA, its mission is to promote the benefits and importance of swimming as a key to fitness, good health, quality of life and the water safety of all adults and children.
