Duke Divers Head to Iowa for USA Championships

IOWA CITY, IOWA - The Duke divers traveled to Iowa City, Iowa for the 2011 USA Winter National Diving Championships Sunday Jan. 30 through Sunday Feb. 6.
Preliminaries for the men's synchronized 10-meter platform and women's synchronized 3-meter springboard events were held on Sunday, and the final will take place on Tuesday.
After round one of the preliminaries, Duke's own Nick McCrory and partner David Boudia from Purdue University, grabbed first with a score of 449.52. While on the women's side, Duke's Abby Johnston and partner, Christina Loukas of Texas, finished first with 314.40 points.
Scores will not carry over to the finals for purposes of determining the national champions, but cumulative scores from the prelims and finals will be used to select teams for upcoming international events.

Tuesday's competition will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the men's 10-meter and the women's 3-meter synchronized finals followed by the women's 1-meter and men's 3-meter finals, as well as the women's 10-meter platform finals.
