DURHAM, N.C. - The honors continue for former Blue Devil standout Ashley Twichell, who has been nominated by the USA Swimming Foundation for a 2011 Golden Goggle Award.

Twichell, a 2011 graduate of Duke, has been nominated for the Breakout Performer of the Year Golden Goggle Award. The Fayetteville, N.Y., native wrapped up a busy summer of competition with an outstanding showing at the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai, China in August, where she was a member of the gold-medal winning relay team in the 5K open water team pursuit and claimed bronze in the women's 5K open water event. Earlier in the summer, Twichell also won the 5K U.S. Open Water National Championship.

An ACC champion and an NCAA All-American during her career at Duke, Twichell is set to compete next as a member of Team USA at the Pan American Games.
