DURHAM, N.C.-The Duke University men's soccer team finished the 2012 season with an 8-8-2 overall record. Lone senior James Belshaw led the way in the awards collection category, earning NSCAA All-America third team honors, while junior defender Sebastien Ibeagha was the ACC Defensive Player of the Year.

Shutout Streaks
The Blue Devils put together two impressive shutout streaks during the year ... In September, Duke posted three consecutive shutouts en route to prolonging a shutout streak to 403:22 ... Late in the year, behind a stellar defense and goalkeeper, Duke kept opponents off the scoreboard for 421:40.
First Half Scoring
Goals were hard to come by in the first half this season when Duke was involved ... The Blue Devils allowed just three first-half goals and netted seven scores in the opening 45 minutes.
Narrow Losses
All eight of Duke's losses were by just one goal ... The Blue Devils were shut out in four of those games ... In Duke's 18 games this season, it never allowed more than two goals and only allowed two in the four 2-1 setbacks on the year.
Belshaw Anchored Stalwart Defense
Senior James Belshaw anchors the Blue Devils' stalwart back line that finished ranked second in the ACC in goals against average (0.70) ... That GAA was the lowest for the Blue Devils since the 1987 squad posted a 0.63 goals against average ... Belshaw had eight shutouts for the year and 21 in his career ... His eight shutouts are tied for eighth in Duke single season history, while his 21 are tied for third in Duke career history.
Belshaw Ranks Among Best
Senior James Belshaw graduated as one of the best goalkeepers in Duke soccer history ... A four-year starter with 21 shutouts to his name, the Nottingham, England native owns a 1.04 goals against average and a .766 save percentage for his career.

Duke center backs Sebastien Ibeagha and Zach Mathers combined for 20 points this season with six goals and six assists ... Ibeagha completed his junior campaign with five tallies and two assists, while Mathers had two goals and four assists.
Young Blue Devils Contributed Offensively
The Blue Devils received 38 of their 61 points this season from either freshmen or sophomores ... The talented group of underclassmen combined for eight goals and 15 assists, including four game-winning scores.
Sebastien Ibeagha Led All Duke Scorers
Junior center back Sebastien Ibeagha had a standout junior season, anchoring Duke's backline to nine shutouts and leading the offense with five goals and 12 points overall.
Mathers a Marathon Man
Prior to the 2-0 shutout against Davidson, freshman Zach Mathers had played all 1192 minutes for the Blue Devils, the lone player to do so ... With 30 minutes to go against the Wildcats, Mathers was substituted out of the game for nine minutes ... Overall he played in all but nine minutes this season, ranking tied for second among Duke field players in minutes played.
First Off the Bench
Duke generally played 14-15 players in a game ... A host of players were the first call to check in with sophomore Matt Slotnick leading the way.
