IRVINE, Calif. – Blue Devil swimmers turned in strong showings Saturday, Aug. 3 on the final day of action at the 2013 U.S. Open, held at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine.
Senior Lauren Weaver took 30th in the preliminaries of the women's 50-meter freestyle with a time of 26.37. The same event on the men's side saw junior Stefan Knight finish 72nd at 23.86.
The final evening session of the meet featured incoming freshman Lindsay Schlichte in the women's 1,500 freestyle. Schlichte, a native of Garden City, N.Y., posted a mark of 17:01.95 in a 26th-place performance.
Six Duke swimmers competed in Irvine over the course of the week, highlighted by graduate student Emily Barber's 15th-place finish in the women's 100 breaststroke finals Friday evening.
