DURHAM, N.C.—Duke men's soccer standout midfielder Sean Davis continues to garner honors for his stellar senior campaign. The senior captain, a recipient of many awards already, added College Soccer News All-America third team recognition and Top Drawer Soccer Best XI first team accolades to his totals as announced by the organizations Monday.
Davis is among seven ACC players voted to the College Soccer News All-America squads, while he is one of three ACC representatives on the TDS Best XI first team.
Davis recently signed a contract as a homegrown player with the New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer. The 2014 ACC Midfielder of the Year and All-ACC first team selection, Davis was the engine to Duke's offense throughout his career. The Holmdel, N.J., native finished his senior season leading all ACC players and ranking third nationally with a career-high 10 assists.
Voted the team's Most Valuable Player, Davis completed his senior campaign with 12 points to rank second on the team in scoring. He tallied a career-high three assists in Duke's 8-2 win over Stetson and provided assists in seven games overall for the Blue Devils. For his career, Davis has started 62 of 64 games and scored seven goals and 17 assists for 31 points. He is a three-time all-ACC pick, earning second team honors as a sophomore and junior.
Davis is also Duke's Most Valuable Player off the field. A sociology major, he earned his degree in December. He has garnered All-ACC Academic Team in each of his seasons and is a three-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll. He recently became the fourth Blue Devil men's soccer player and 34th Duke athlete overall to earn Academic All-America first team honors.
