DURHAM, N.C. – The Blue Devil women have earned a spot in the first top-25 national poll of the season, as announced Tuesday by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). Duke comes in at No. 22 in the rankings after starting the 2015-16 campaign with a 3-0 record.
Duke is one of six ACC squads to be listed among the top 25, joining No. 4 Virginia, No. 5 North Carolina, No. 8 Louisville, No. 13 NC State and No. 25 Florida State.
The Blue Devils defeated the Seminoles in dual meet action for the first time in program history last Friday evening, collecting a 184-110 victory to improve to 2-0 in conference competition. The women's team also dispatched Queens University of Charlotte, 206-81, to remain unbeaten on the year.
This season, Duke is slated to go head-to-head with three other teams that appear in the initial top 25. The Blue Devils will face No. 11 Indiana and No. 23 Michigan Jan. 16 at a quad meet hosted by Georgia Tech in Atlanta, and will host the fifth-ranked Tar Heel women in the regular season finale Jan. 30 in Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion.
The CSCAA rankings are released on a weekly basis, alternating between a men's and women's team ranking.
Up next, the Duke men and women will welcome non-conference opponents Old Dominion and William & Mary to Taishoff Saturday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m.
