DURHAM, N.C. – Following dual meet victories over Florida State and Queens University of Charlotte last weekend, the Duke men's swimming and diving team joined the women in earning a top-25 ranking nationally. The Blue Devil men were listed at No. 19 in the first College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division I poll of the season Thursday.
With the Duke men listed at No. 19 and the women at No. 22 in this week's polls, it marks the first time in program history both teams have received national rankings.
Duke (3-0, 2-0 ACC) was one of six ACC squads to be ranked among the top 25, along with No. 5 NC State, No. 12 North Carolina, No. 14 Louisville, No. 22 Florida State and No. 22 Virginia Tech.
The Blue Devils defeated the Seminoles in dual meet action for the first time in program history Friday night, earning a 165-129 victory. The squad also topped Queens by a 175-114 score to remain unbeaten on the year.
This season, Duke is slated to go head-to-head with three teams that appear in the initial top 25. The Blue Devils will compete against No. 8 Michigan and No. 9 Indiana Jan. 16 at a quad meet hosted by Georgia Tech in Atlanta, and will host the 12th-ranked Tar Heel men in the regular season finale Jan. 30 in Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion.
The CSCAA rankings are released on a weekly basis, alternating between a men's and women's team ranking.
The Blue Devils return to action Saturday, Nov. 7 when they welcome non-conference opponents Old Dominion and William & Mary to Taishoff.
