DURHAM, N.C.—For the third consecutive week a Blue Devil has brought home one of the ACC Men's Soccer weekly honors as Jared Rist was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week. Rist helped the Blue Devils stretch their win streak to five games. He is the fourth Blue Devil to win a weekly honor.
A graduate student, Rist was instrumental in Duke's two wins this past week. The outside back from Durham, N.C., helped anchor the defense in allowing just a single goal in the two games while logging 183 minutes overall.
In the final midweek game of the year, Rist was crucial in the Blue Devils posting a 1-0 shutout of Jacksonville. Three days later in the regular season finale, Rist played the full 90 minutes and headed home the game winner in a 2-1 win over Virginia Tech. Rist leads all Duke players in minutes played and has a goal and four assists this season.
The Blue Devils, the No. 8 seed in the upcoming ACC Championship, hosts Louisville in the first round Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed live by the Blue Devil Network free of charge.
