DURHAM, N.C. -- The 2015-16 Duke women's tennis schedule was announced Wednesday by head coach Jamie Ashworth, with the Blue Devils slated to compete in five events throughout the fall season before the start of dual match play in January.
Duke opens its fall campaign by hosting the Duke Invitational Sept. 18-20 in Cary, N.C., before traveling across the country to the 2015 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif., Oct. 3-11. Following its trip to California, Duke returns to the Durham area, competing in the ITA Regionals competition in Chapel Hill, N.C., from Oct. 22-26. The Blue Devils remain on the East Coast for the rest of the fall, competing in the Kitty Harrison Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C., Nov. 6-8 and National Indoors in New York, N.Y., Nov. 12-15.
Following the new year, the team reconvenes, traveling to Las Vegas, Nev., for the UNLV Invitational Jan. 15-17, which precedes the start of the dual match season Jan. 20 when Duke faces Elon in Durham, N.C.
During the fourth weekend in January, Duke will once again serve as a host site for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Kickoff Weekend. Duke opens the weekend of competition Jan. 22 against Portland before playing either Florida State or Mississippi State Jan. 23 to close out the weekend-long event. The final match of the month pits Duke against Northwestern Jan. 31 in Evanston, Ill.
The month of February includes a full slate of competition, beginning with the National Team Indoors event in Madison, Wis., Feb. 5-8. The Blue Devils then return to Durham for a four-match homestand that includes meetings with Texas (Feb. 21), Florida State (Feb. 26), Miami (Feb. 28) and Syracuse (March 4). The Florida State contest marks the beginning of ACC play for the Blue Devils.
Duke continues competition against ACC foes in March, hitting the road to face Virginia Tech (March 6) in Blacksburg, Va., Pittsburgh (March 18) in Pittsburgh, Pa., Louisville (March 20) in Louisville, Ky., and Wake Forest (March 26) in Winston-Salem, N.C. March's schedule of competitions concludes with Duke welcoming North Carolina to campus March 29.
The final month of the regular season begins with Duke taking on Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., April 1. The Blue Devils follow the match against the Cavaliers by hosting four consecutive home contests against Notre Dame (April 3), Michigan (April 6), Boston College (April 9) and NC State (April 12). The final two matches of ACC regular season competition are against Georgia Tech (April 15) in Atlanta, Ga., and Clemson (April 17) in Clemson, S.C.
Postseason for the Blue Devils begins with the ACC Tournament, scheduled for April 20-24 in Cary, N.C.
Last season, Duke posted an overall record of 17-10, including an 11-3 record against ACC competition. The Blue Devils open with the Duke Invitational Friday, Sept. 18, in Cary, N.C.
