DURHAM, N.C.—A pair of former Blue Devils made their debuts at the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Indoor Lacrosse Championship last week. CJ Costabile and Zack Greer are representing the United States and Canada, respectively, at the tournament being held in Onondaga, N.Y.
Costabile, the United States' top draw man, owns a pair of assists and 20 faceoff victories in his two games. The U.S. dropped its opening game to the Iroquois Nationals Friday night before rebounding with a 14-7 victory over Czech Republic. Costabile, a 2012 Duke graduate, registered his two assists in the victory. The United States goes up against England Monday afternoon at 3:30 p.m., at Onondaga Arena.
Greer, Duke's career goals record holder with 206 tallies, finished with a goal and an assist in the narrow 11-9 win to the Iroquois Nationals. Canada used a late 4-0 run to upend the Iroquois. Greer and Canada take on Czech Republic Monday night at 7:30 p.m.
The two former Blue Devils will square off against each other Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 7:30 p.m. The medal round is set for Sept. 27 in the Carrier Dome.
