Hey Duke Fans!!
First semester of my SENIOR year is officially over. I really can't believe that I am only a few months away from graduating. It's a little surreal to be completely honest, but I am definitely excited!
Winter break is probably every basketball player's favorite part of the season. NO CLASS! We can be all about basketball for a couple weeks and really be locked in for a couple of games without the obligations of tutoring, classes, meetings, etc. It is definitely a time that we spend a lot of time together since no one else is really on campus. But with this group, I don't mind that at all. We had an opportunity to go on an amazing trip to California over Thanksgiving to bring some of our teammate's home to play in front of their friends and family. There have been so many blessings and things to be thankful for this year, and I was so happy to be able to spend Thanksgiving with my sisters.
We have had a really successful season so far, we have learned a lot about each other and our coaches. I think we have really grown a lot as a team in our past 12 games. And on a more personal note, this by far has been my most productive season in my opinion, and that wouldn't be possible without my amazing teammates and coaching staff.
This break we were able to prepare for exams (which everyone killed by the way!) and get some much needed rest from our crazy November schedule. We had some really competitive practices against each other and really got after it.
I think that we are all about to explode because we are so ready to play, it's been SO LONG! We have a tough loss and a great win under our belt, which I think is a pretty good situation. We have been able to learn a ton and get better as a team.
Spending this last year and a half at Duke has been so incredible, and 2016 has been a whirlwind of a year. One of the highlights for sure was being able to reach 1,000 career points, and to do it in Cameron with all of our fans was definitely an amazing moment. Of course I wish that I was able to score all 1,000 points wearing Duke across my chest. I can't wait to see what the rest of this season brings in 2016 and head into 2017 with positivity!
Happy Holidays!
