Peter Matt finished 3-for-4 as the Duke baseball team topped North Carolina, 4-2, on Saturday afternoon in game one of the three-game series at Boshamer Stadium in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Matt's 3-for-4 day with three RBIs led the Blue Devils as he finished a triple shy of the cycle.

Cooper Stinson started on the mound for the Blue Devils, picking up two strikeouts in two hitless innings. Sophomore
Henry Williams started the Saturday continuation, allowing four hits and a walk in five innings of scoreless baseball. Williams earned the win, his third of the season.

The Blue Devils took the lead in the first frame with an RBI double off the right field wall from
Matt, scoring his classmateÂ
Erikson Nichols from first. Duke doubled its lead in the second inning as redshirt juniorÂ
Wil Hoyle executed a sacrifice bunt down the first base line to bring juniorÂ
Ethan Murray home.
Duke doubled its lead in the fifth inning as Matt sent a ball 398 feet for a two-run home run to make the game 4-0.

North Carolina got on the scoreboard with runs in the eighth and ninth but were unable to overcome the deficit.

Duke and North Carolina take the field on Sunday at noon for game two of the series at Boshamer Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m., and will be nationally broadcast live on ACC Network.
