QUICK HITS
- Graduate closer Charlie Beilenson was named ACC Pitcher of the Week on Monday, following a 2-0 record on the mound this week. Beilenson worked a combined 6.2 innings in his three outings, earning wins against Gardner-Webb and Virginia Tech, before slamming the door on the Hokies in Sunday's rubber match, his ninth save of the season. Over his 6.2 innings, Beilenson struck out 10 batters, held opponents to a .045 batting average against and allowed one hit. He was also tabbed to the Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List on Wednesday.
- The Blue Devils continue to stack series wins in league play, earning their fourth consecutive ACC series victory at No. 23 Virginia Tech this past weekend. It marks the third top-25 series win and Duke has its eyes set on its third top-10 series win, welcoming No. 10 Florida State to Jack Coombs Field. The Blue Devils are 5-1 in ACC series when winning Friday night.
- Freshman AJ Gracia continues to chase greatness for Duke in his first season. He began the year with a 22-game reached base streak and added his ninth and 10th home runs of the season on Sunday at No. 23 Virginia Tech and now sits two home runs away from breaking Andrew Fischer's freshman home run record of 11. The Monroe, N.J., native has started all 41 games, producing a slash line of .311/.574/.449, while leading the team in walks with 33. Gracia has also posted 42 RBI through 41 games and is now one shy of Joey Loperfido's record of 43 RBI by a freshman at Duke.
- The Blue Devils have continued to pounce on opponents like they did throughout the season in 2023. Duke has recorded 208 of its 338 runs so far this season from the fourth to eighth innings. That number accounts for 61.9% of the Blue Devils' run production this season.
- Graduate Ben Miller continues to rake in his 37 games played in 2024. Miller leads the team in batting average (.444), doubles (16), OPS (1.293), hits (67), slugging percentage (.781) and on base percentage (.512). His 67 hits are also fourth most in the country by a single player. The Durham, N.C., native has also added 13 walks and eight hit by pitches, beginning the season with a 13-game hitting streak. He enters the eighth weekend of ACC play with an 18-game hitting streak and tallied his 20th multi-hit contest of the season against Virginia Tech this past weekend. In his last 10 games, Miller has posted a .478 average (11-for-23) with six runs scored, two doubles, one triple, two home runs and six RBI. He is now four doubles away from tying a handful of players for fifth all-time in a singles season with 20 and eight doubles away from tying Vaughn Schill who finished the 1999 season with 24 doubles.
