SETTING THE SCENE
• Duke wrestling (0-0) will host Sacred Heart (0-0) Saturday, Nov. 1 in the 2025-26 season opener inside Cameron Indoor Stadium at 11 a.m.  Saturday's match will be aired live on ACC Network Extra with Dylan Ryan calling the action. 
 
THE SERIES
•  Duke and Sacred Heart will meet for the third time in program history and features a 2-0 ledger in the series. 
•  The two teams met for the first time on Feb. 7, 2015 and the Blue Devils collected a 29-14 victory.  Last year on Nov. 16, Duke totaled a 23-15 victory in Hempstead, N.Y.  Duke received victories last season by

BARKET RANKED 18TH NATIONALLY
• Duke wrestling redshirt junior 
Connor Barket has been listed in three different rankings as the Blue Devils get set to open the 2025-26 season this weekend.
•  Barket, a native of West Lafayette, Ind., is coming off a season where he advanced to the NCAA Championship for the first time in his collegiate career.  He collected a 24-12 ledger and was ranked as high as No. 17 nationally a season ago.  Barket posted a 12-5 dual match ledger and totaled four wins against ranked opponents.
•  In the preseason, Barket is ranked No. 18 by FloWrestling, No. 21 by Intermat and No. 27 by WrestleStat in the Heavyweight listing.
•  Duke also featured redshirt sophomore 
Aidan Wallace ranked No. 26 in the 165-weight class, but Wallace has decided to open the season wrestling at 174 pounds.
 
LANHAM ADDS FIVE RECRUITS FOR 2025-26
•  Duke wrestling head coach 
Glen Lanham has announced five additions to the 2025-26 roster with the signing of a pair of transfers and three incoming freshmen.
•  Lanham added two transfers -- 
Aurelius Dunbar (Penn State) and 
Natty Lapinski (Drexel) – and three freshmen – 
Colin Lutz (Marvin, N.C.), 
Mikey Boulanger (Milford, Mass.) and 
Eddie Radecki (Newark, Del.).
 
NEW ADDITION TO STAFF
• Duke wrestling head coach 
Glen Lanham has added 
Codi Russell to the coaching staff for the 2025-26 campaign.
•  Russell, a 2021 Appalachian State graduate, joins the Blue Devils after spending the last two years as an assistant coach at Hofstra.  He has also spent time at Army West Point and at the Minion Training Center as a coach following his time in Boone.
•  A standout wrestler at Appalachian State, Russell was a four-time NCAA Championship qualifier and three-time Southern Conference Champion.  Russell, who wrestled at 125 and 133 pounds, was a five-time conference finalist and posted 94 career wins during his tenure. He was also a four-year team captain for the Mountaineers and served as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
•  After finishing his eligibility following the 2021-22 academic year, Russell joined the staff at the Minion Training Center, where he was responsible for coaching youth, middle school and high school-level wrestling skills. He developed training protocols for elite level wrestlers and recruited wrestlers from the southeast to join the nationally ranked Minion dual teams.
•  A Georgia native, Russell starred at Collins High School in Lawrenceville, where he was a state champion as a senior and a four-time place winner. He recorded 230 career wins and was the NHSCA Senior National Champion.
•  Russell earned his degree in recreational management with a concentration in parks, recreation, and tourism, while minoring in coaching at ASU.
 
DUKE FEATURES TRI-CAPTAINS IN 2025-26
•  The 2025-26 Duke wrestling team will feature a trio of captains – 
Connor Barket, 
Gaetano Console and 
Aidan Wallace.
•  It marks the third straight season that Barket and Console will serve as captains.
•  Coming off his first appearance in the NCAA Championship, Barket is primed for another outstanding season with the Blue Devils. He has won 40 matches over the last two seasons and was ranked as high as No. 17 nationally a season ago.  Barket, who hails from West Lafayette, Indiana, totaled 24 wins this past year, which were the fifth-most in Blue Devil history as a heavyweight.
•  A native of Barrington Hills, Illinois, Console has been a steady leader since stepping foot on campus three seasons ago.  Wrestling at 165/174 over his career, Console has tallied 19 wins as a Blue Devil.  He is a three-time ACC Honor Roll selection and two-time All-ACC Academic team honoree.
•  Wallace, a product of Mahwah, New Jersey, made a splash on the national scene as a redshirt freshman a season ago, as he collected 22 victories at the 165 weight class.  He reached as high as No. 26 nationally and logged three victories against ranked opponents. Wallace went 3-1 at the Journeyman Collegiate Classic and 5-1 at the Southern Scuffle, while placing second on the podium at the scuffle.
