DURHAM, N.C. — The NCAA has announced the first coaches' rankings for the 2026 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship with Duke's
Connor Barket and
Aidan Wallace listed.
The coaches' rankings are determined by a vote of three coaches in each weight class. For ranking purposes, coaches may only consider a wrestler that has been designated as a starter at a respective weight class. Wrestlers must have eight Division I matches in the weight class to be considered with at least one within the last 30 days.
Wallace, a native of Mahwah, New Jersey, was listed No. 24 in the 174-pound weight class, while Barket, who hails from West Lafayette, Indiana, was No. 23 in the heavyweight class.
Coming off a NCAA Championship appearance a season ago, Barket has logged a 17-4 record on the season for the Blue Devils. He is 11-2 in dual match action and 2-1 in ACC play. Barket placed fifth at the Southern Scuffle with three victories.
On the season, Wallace has collected a 23-3 overall record, including a 14-2 dual match ledger. He placed third overall at the Southern Scuffle as he registered a 6-1 record in the event to start 2026. In ACC action so far, he owns a 2-1 record. Over his last six bouts, Wallace hasn't allowed more than six points.
The coaches' ranking is one of several criteria that will be evaluated by the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee during the at-large selection and seeding process along with head-to-head competition, quality wins, Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), conference tournament placement, results versus common opponents and win percentage.
The 2026 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships will take place March 19-21 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland. The next NCAA ranking is scheduled to be released Feb. 12.
Duke will next face North Carolina Friday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m., in Chapel Hill.
