DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke men's soccer team battled to a draw, 1-1, against Elon on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Koskinen Stadium. Thomas Vold came through late as he netted the first goal of his Duke career in the 84th minute to level the score.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Duke forced two early saves, with shot attempts from Aridon Racaj and Kamran Acito turned away by the Elon goalkeeper.
- The Phoenix opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, with Jahmir Flowers finding the back of the net in transition.
- Duke finished the half with an 11-1 advantage in shots, including 3-1 in shots on goal, but entered intermission still trailing, 1-0.
- Both Kenan Hot and Ulfur Bjornsson had free-kick attempts in the early moments of the second half, but both attempts sailed just over the crossbar.
- Elon's goal in the first half was the first goal conceded by the Blue Devils since Sept. 14, at California, snapping a stretch of 541 minutes played by Duke without allowing a tally.
- Duke went down a man in 70th minute, following a red card shown due to a denial of a goal scoring opportunity.
- Thomas Vold equalized, tapping in a loose ball inside the six-yard box after a header by Bjornsson clanged off the right goalpost. Â
- The Blue Devils added four shots over the final three minutes, but the Phoenix defense held strong.

- Thomas Vold registered the first goal of his Duke career, with Ulfur Bjornsson receiving an assist on the play.
- Bjornsson now has 10 points in his last six matches.
- Elon's goal in the first half was the first goal conceded by the Blue Devils since Sept. 14, at California, snapping a stretch of 541 minutes played by Duke without allowing a goal.
- Duke goalkeeper Eryk Dymora played the entire 90 minutes in goal and finished with zero saves on two shots.
