DURHAM, N.C. – Coming off notching her second hat trick of her career in NCAA Tournament action, Duke women's soccer junior
Mia Minestrella was named TopDrawerSoccer National Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday.
A product of Redondo Beach, California, Minestrella scored all three of Duke's goals in the first 48 minutes of its opening round contest against Elon Friday to send the Blue Devils into the NCAA Tournament second round. She scored goals in the 11th, 23rd and 48th minutes, including two off corner kicks.
Minestrella has now scored seven goals over the last two years in NCAA Tournament first round games, and tied a NCAA Tournament record with four goals in 2024 versus Howard.
She now owns 15 goals on the season to rank second in the ACC and 12th nationally, while her five game-winning goals ranks tied for second in the league. In the Duke single-season record charts, Minestrella's 15 goals ranks tied for sixth and her 34 points is tied for ninth. Minestrella has played in six career NCAA Tournament contests and already ranks sixth in Duke's NCAA career charts with 16 points and tied for fourth with seven goals.
Redshirt junior
Kat Rader collected a pair of assists in the match against Elon and now owns 10 goals and 10 assists on the season, becoming the fourth Blue Devil to post 10 or more goals and assists in the same season. She joined Michelle Cooper (2022), Imani Dorsey (2017) and Laura Weinberg (2012).
Duke will next host UCF Thursday, Nov. 20 at 6:30 p.m., in the NCAA Tournament second round. The match will be aired live on ESPN+.
