COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The honors continue to roll in for Duke senior
Alaina McVeigh as the veteran forward garnered NFHCA All-America First Team honors as announced Tuesday morning. This is the third consecutive season McVeigh has earned an All-America nod.
McVeigh was voted to the first team for the second time in her career after earning second team recognition last season. She is the eighth Blue Devil to earn at least three All-America awards and the fifth to earn first-team honors twice in her career.
Duke's top scorer for each of the past three seasons, McVeigh became the second Blue Devil to earn three consecutive All-ACC first-team honors since the league started compiling two teams in 2013. She is the 12th Duke player to pick up three All-ACC honors in her career.
The Lansdale, Pennsylvania product led the Blue Devil offense with 15 goals and nine assists for a career-best 39 points this season. The 15 markers tied for 14th Duke single-season history while the 39 points are tied for 20th. McVeigh scored a goal in 11 games and had multiple goals in four games this season. She notched game winners in four games, including the 2-1 victory over Iowa in the NCAA Championship first round.
For her career, McVeigh has 45 goals and 14 assists for 104 points and is one of six Duke players to post at least 20 points in each of her first three seasons on the turf. McVeigh is also one of four Blue Devils to register double-digit goals in each of her first three seasons. She currently ranks 10th in Duke history with 104 career points and ninth with 45 career goals.
The Blue Devils finished the year 13-8 overall, advancing to the NCAA Championship quarterfinals.
