DURHAM, N.C. – With the regular season complete, the Duke fencing team will travel to down the road to the University of North Carolina for the 2025 ACC Fencing Championships. The Blue Devil men and women are looking for their first league championships since 2021.
Setting the Scene
- The league championships will be held Saturday and Sunday at UNC's Eddie Smith Field House in Chapel Hill, N.C.
- The championships begin at 8 a.m. Saturday with the women's individual pool play. The men's team action starts at 1:30 p.m. The schedule will reverse Sunday with the men's individual pool play at 8 a.m. and the women's team competition at 1:30 p.m.
- This marks the 11th ACC Fencing Championship since fencing returned as a league-sponsored sport. Stanford will be joining the field for the first time.
- UNC is serving as the host for the second time and first since 2021.
- The sixth-ranked Duke women are 23-4 this season while the 10th-ranked Blue Devil men are 18-7.
- North Carolina won its first ACC Men's Fencing Championship since 1980 last winter while Notre Dame prevailed in a fence-off to claim the women's team title for the third consecutive campaign.Â
- The Duke women earned the second seed in the team event while the men Blue Devil are fourth.

- The men's and women's individual semifinals and finals, as well as the team championship, will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra. Coverage of the semifinals and finals begins Saturday and Sunday at 11:30 a.m. with the women Saturday and men Sunday. Team finals coverage begins at 2:45 p.m. each day with the men competing Saturday and the women Sunday.
A Look Back at 2024
- Current sophomore Samir Travers earned a bronze in saber at the 2024 ACC Championship, hosted by Notre Dame. Travers totaled 10 victories during pool play to earn the No. 2 seed in the semifinal/final bracket. He faced Grant Dodrill of Notre Dame in the semifinal and fell (15-10). He went on to fence Inigo Rivera of Boston College in the battle for third place and secured the 15-11 victory to bring home bronze.Â
- As a team, the women finished second in a fence-off to Notre Dame while the men's squad went 1-2. In the fence-off, Duke's Victoria Gorman, now a sophomore, defeated Chelsea Delsoin (5-4) in saber before Chloe Beittel dropped a 5-1 decision to Amanda Pirkowski in epee. Tied up at 1-1, the 2024 ACC Champion in foil Josephina Conway tallied a 5-3 victory against current junior Rachel Koo to secure the team championship.
