QUICK HITS
- Duke baseball has been steadier at the plate this season, drawing 170 walks through the first 25 games. That mark is fifth most in the country trailing VMI (202), Georgia State (181), Tennessee (179), and Georgia (177). The 170 walks lead the ACC.
- Sophomore catcher Macon Winslow has settled into his everyday role as Duke's primary backstop. During the Blue Devils' 4-0 week, Winslow posted a .471 average at the plate (8-for-17) with five hits for extra bases. He led the team with 12 RBI and recorded a 1.118 slugging percentage during those contests. Additionally, Winslow posted a .500 on-base percentage and was one of two Duke players to tally 10-plus RBI.
- The Blue Devils continue a trend of scoring throughout the middle innings of games this season, posting 71 of their 198 runs (35.8%) from the fourth to the sixth innings.
- Senior shortstop Wallace Clark moved into a tie for sixth all-time on the Blue Devils career hit-by-pitch list Sunday, recording his 34th free base to date. Clark tied Matt Williams (2006-09) and Kennie Taylor (2016-19).
- Following a cross-country flight and being swept at the hands of No. 18 Stanford, Duke responded with authority this past week, beginning with a 12-2 victory at Jack Coombs Field against UConn. With a tough road weekend ahead at No. 23 Virginia, Duke didn't bat an eye, sweeping the Hoos, including scoring 26 runs across the final two games to cap off a perfect week. The sweep of the Cavaliers was the first Virginia has suffered at home since 2021, was the first Duke sweep of Virginia since 1998, and was the Blue Devils' first sweep in Charlottesville in the 118-year history of the two sides meeting.
