LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Duke track and field closed out three days of competition at the 2025 ACC Indoor Championships Monday afternoon with gold medals in the men's pole vault and women's 4x400m relay while three more Blue Devils earned spots on the All-ACC Second Team.
In total, the Blue Devils tallied three podium finishes (two gold, one silver) and picked up 13 all-conference accolades. The Duke men finished the conference meet in seventh place with a total of 41 points while the Blue Devil women took 10th with 35 points.
TOP PERFORMANCES:
- Simen Guttormsen delivered a performance for the history books en route to securing the Blue Devils' first gold medal of the weekend. Taking part in the men's pole vault, Guttormsen cleared bars set at 5.29m, 5.49m, 5.64m and 5.67m – the latter height locking down the win and All-ACC First Team status.
- The graduate student's mark of 5.67m (18-7.25 feet) shattered both the ACC and meet records set in 2017 and improved his own school record in the process.
- Duke's women's 4x400m relay brought the record-breaking party to the track as the quartet of Braelyn Baker, Megan McGinnis, Lauren Tolbert and Aliya Garozzo revised the ACC Indoor Championship record books. The foursome clocked a meet-record time of 3:31.88 – nearly two seconds faster than the event runner-up, Florida State. The group's time bested its own program record, while also besting the previous meet record by almost a second.
- Baker, graduate student Eric Bottern and senior Chyler Turner each secured spots on the all-conference second team via solid outings in the women's 200m, men's shot put and women's 60m hurdles, respectively.
- Bottern came through in the clutch and delivered his best throw on the final attempt, tallying a mark of 17.78m (68-4 feet) for the fifth-place finish. Baker clocked 23.62 seconds while Turner finished in 8.41 seconds – both times good for sixth place.
- On Sunday, senior Michael Bennett and graduate student Ewan Bradley both earned spots on the All-ACC Second Team after placing fourth and sixth, respectively, in the men's heptathlon.
- Bennett turned in a personal-best performance in the multi-event totaling 5,747 points, improving his own No. 2 all-time program mark in the process. The Lakewood, Colo., native's showing was highlighted by a win in the 1,000m and runner-up finishes in the 60m and shot put.
- Bradley tallied 5,441 points across the seven events, with his best performance coming via a third-place finish in the shot put.
