QUICK HITS
- Duke continues a trend of scoring throughout the middle innings of games this season, scoring 45 of their 118 (38.1%) runs this season from the fourth to sixth innings.
- Graduate Ben Miller is still hitting his stride, collecting home runs in his last five contests to push his season tally to eight. His eight home runs are tied for second in the country, trailing ETSU's Grant Gallagher by one. Last week, Miller posted a .421 average and extended his hitting streak to six games on Tuesday against North Carolina A&T.
- The 2025 Duke squad is steadier at the plate, drawing 106 walks this season. That mark is second in the country, trailing only VMI (115). The 106 walks are also the most in the ACC.
- Duke and Cal meet for the first time since 2016, when the two programs met in Durham for the return trip of a home-and-home series. All-time, the Blue Devils hold a 4-2 record over the Golden Bears, but this weekend has a different feel to it. The two sides meet on the diamond for the first time as conference foes after Cal joined the ACC during the 2024-25 athletic year. Friday's contest is Cal's first ACC contest for baseball.
- Two-out lightning has returned for the Blue Devils this season, as Duke has produced 39 two-out RBI. The 39 runs account for 33.0% of the Blue Devils' run production this season. Ben Miller leads the team with seven two-out RBI, while AJ Gracia (6), Jake Hyde (5), and Jake Berger (4) are just behind.
- USA Baseball Alumni Kyle Johnson and AJ Gracia will compete against former US Collegiate National Team members as conference play begins for the Blue Devils. The duo will face off against Trey Newmann (Cal), Joey Volchko (Stanford), Eric Becker and Henry Ford (Virginia), and Cooper Consiglio, Jacob Dudan, and Alex Sosa (NC State).
- Since 2023, Duke has collected a record of 41-1 when scoring 10-plus runs in a contest. The Blue Devils were 18-0 in 2023, 18-1 in 2024 and are currently 5-0 in 2025.
