The Good Sport: Reflections on a Full Life in College Sports,
Kevin White, the former Vice President and Director of Athletics at Duke University, appeared at a question-and-answer session followed by book signing in San Antonio, Texas. The event took place on Saturday, April 5.
The Q&A session also included current Duke Vice President and Director of Athletics
Nina King and NCAA Executive Vice President of Regulatory Affairs
Stan Wilcox, both of whom worked closely with White during their respective careers.
White spent more than 50 years working in college athletics, with Athletic Director stops spanning 38 years at Loras College, Maine, Tulane, Arizona State, Notre Dame, and ultimately Duke from 2008-21 before his retirement from athletics administration. Recently, White was honored with the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) James J. Corbett Memorial Award, the highest honor one can achieve in collegiate athletics administration.
Currently, White serves as Duke's Vice President and Director of Athletics Emeritus, as well as a professor of the practice at Duke's Fuqua School of Business, where he teaches a popular course on sports business. He also works with the consulting firm Huron to assist institutional leaders in navigating the transformation of athletics and in developing best practices for college and university programs.
