DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke volleyball team fell in straight sets to Notre Dame, 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-23), Sunday afternoon inside Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Blue Devils drop to 5-16 overall and 2-8 in ACC play, while the Fighting Irish improve to 8-10 overall and 5-5 in league action.
Sophomore Taylor Williams led the Duke offense with nine kills, while freshman Charlotte Glass dished out a team-best 19 assists. Freshman Ashby Zubchevich paced the defensive effort with nine digs, and sophomore Breonna Goss led the blocking with four denials.
How It Happened
Set One – Duke 13, Notre Dame 25
- The Fighting Irish earned the opening frame with a 25-13 victory. The set was tied at 6-6 before Notre Dame used a 13-1 run to take a 19-7 lead. Duke responded with three straight points, getting a kill from Williams, an ace from freshman Olivia Wayne, and a kill from Goss, but Notre Dame closed the set by taking six of the final nine points.
Set Two – Duke 18, Notre Dame 25
- Notre Dame extended its match lead to 2-0 with a 25-18 win in the second set. The Fighting Irish jumped out to an 8-4 advantage before Duke answered with four straight points, highlighted by two kills from Williams, to even the score at 8-8. Notre Dame regained momentum with a 7-4 spurt to go up, 15-12. Duke pulled within one with two points, but the Irish responded with a 7-1 push to establish a 22-15 lead before closing out the set, claiming three of the final six marks.
Set Three – Duke 23, Notre Dame 25
- The Fighting Irish secured the sweep by coming out on top in a tight third set, 25-23. Duke jumped out to an early 11-6 lead and extended it to 19-12. Notre Dame rallied and went on an 11-3 push to take the 23-22 lead. Duke earned one more mark, but Notre Dame clinched the match by taking the final two points.

- Duke drops to a 5-16 overall record, including a 2-8 mark in conference matches, while the Fighting Irish improve to 8-10 overall and a 5-5 ledger in ACC matches.Â
