Duke Earns AVCA Team Academic Award

DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke volleyball team received the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, the organization announced on Thursday. The honor marks the 19th time in program history, and seventh consecutive year, that the Blue Devils have received the recognition.
Duke also earned the additional distinction of AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll, representing the top 20 percent of GPAs nationally by division.
First instituted in 1992, the AVCA Team Academic Award goes to collegiate and high school volleyball programs that maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.30 for the academic year. The Blue Devil's 19 team awards rank second among ACC schools, while its seven-year streak is tied for first.
A total of seven Blue Devils – Christina Barrow, Breonna Goss, Mailinh Godschall, Avery Hamlin, Lauren Ingram, Sydney Tomlak and Taylor Williams – were named to the All-ACC Academic Team in January.
Duke volleyball opens the 2026 season by hosting an exhibition match against NC Central on Aug. 19 at 6 p.m., inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.
