DURHAM, N.C. - The Blue Devil duo of
Andrew McAdorey and
Reigan Richardson have been selected as Duke's senior male and female student-athletes of the year for the 2024-25 campaign.
The pair joins a storied past of Duke senior student-athletes who have been recognized by the university for pairing athletic success with excellence in the classroom. McAdorey is a two-time All-American with the men's lacrosse team, while Richardson eclipsed 1,000 career points with the women's basketball program. Â
McAdorey, a two-time USILA first-team All-American, excelled at both midfield and attack during his four seasons with the Blue Devils. In 2025, the Manorville, New York native ranked second on the team in scoring with 22 goals and 22 assists for 44 points en route to earning consensus first-team All-America awards and his second All-ACC honor.Â
In the ACC Championship, McAdorey scored four goals and two assists in two games as Duke came up just short, 9-8, in the title game against Syracuse. He turned in his most memorable performance earlier in the season, scoring the final three goals in a thrilling overtime win over Michigan.Â
The senior captain had at least three points in 10 games in 2025 and registered two hat tricks. Duke's Tewaaraton nominee, McAdorey finished his career with 14 hat tricks and six games with at least five points. He started every game the past four years, concluding his career ranked 25th in Duke history with 181 points (109g, 72a).
McAdorey found just as much success in the classroom. A four-time All-ACC Academic Team honoree, the political science major earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-America honors in 2024 and was awarded a 2025 ACC Postgraduate Scholarship as he pursues his Master of Management Studies degree from Duke's Fuqua School of Business next year.Â
Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, Richardson started all 37 games for the Blue Devils during the 2024-25 campaign while helping lead the Duke to its third consecutive 20-win season (29-8), ninth ACC Tournament title and 12th Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The senior averaged 9.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per contest, while ranking second on the team in total minutes (1,011) and assists (89).Â
In three seasons with the Blue Devils, Richardson started 97-of-104 games while averaging 9.7 points on 41-percent shooting, 2.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists. She helped lead the Blue Devils to 77 victories, three consecutive 20-win seasons and three straight NCAA Tournament appearances - including the 2024 Sweet Sixteen and 2025 Elite Eight – and one ACC championship.Â
The senior eclipsed the 1,000-point threshold – both individually and at Duke - during the 2024-25 campaign, achieving the respective feats against Pittsburgh (Jan. 5) and South Carolina (Mar. 30). Richardson concluded her career with 1,174 total points and scored 1,004 of those at Duke, becoming the 36th player all-time to surpass the benchmark as a Blue Devil.
Richardson graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in sociology and a 3.585 cumulative GPA.
