JEJU ISLAND, Korea –The United States U20 Men's National Team's furious comeback effort fell just short as Canda's goaltender Grayson Manning made his 15th and final stop to give the Canadians the 6-5 win in the gold medal game of the World Lacrosse Men's U20 World Championship Sunday morning.

Patrick Jameison made four second half saves and recorded a crucial caused turnover that sparked the United States' rally in the final minutes.
Trailing 6-2 following an empty net goal with 4:26 remaining, Jameison got the ball back for the Americans. Brett Chambers scored 19 seconds later to make it a 6-3 contest. Colin Kurdyla pulled the
U.S. within two, 6-4, at the 2:47 mark and Jack Speidell made it 6-5 with eight ticks left on the clock.
Following a Brady Wambach faceoff win, Kurdyla's last ditch effort was denied by a red-hot Manning in Canda's goal. Manning was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player for his performance throughout the 10 days.
The United States held a 20-14 edge in shots on goal and won 8-of-13 faceoffs, but Manning's performance between the pipes proved to be the difference.
The victory by Canada snapped a string of nine straight World Lacrosse junior championships for the USA that dated to 1988. It was the first time anyone other than the U.S. won the event.
"This group stuck together, they were tightknit, they were gritty, and they got the job done," said Canada head coach Gary Gait. "This is the first championship at the U20/U19 for Canadians and we're just so proud that we could be the first."
"I'm obviously disappointed," said United States head coach Shawn Nadelen. "We didn't accomplish our mission of coming over here and earning gold and winning it to bring back to the USA, but these guys obviously showed a ton of fight and represented the red, white and blue all the way to end."
