Duke Trio Earns Preseason ACC Awards; Blue Devils Picked as Preseason Favorite

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Duke junior forward Toby Fournier was named to the 2026-27 ACC Women's Basketball Preseason All-ACC Team and Autumn Fleary and Bella Flemings were voted to the Preseason All-Freshman Team in a vote of the league's head coaches and a Blue Ribbon Panel the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
As a team, the Blue Devils were picked to repeat as league champions, earning 49 first-place votes. Louisville came in second with 22, while North Carolina and Notre Dame were third and fourth, respectively.
Fournier collected the second most votes of any player in the ACC behind Notre Dame's Hannah Hidalgo. The Fighting Irish guard edged the Blue Devil forward for the Preseason Player of the Year, earning 871 points to Fournier's 767. Duke is the lone program to have two rookies represented on the six-player team.
An AP All-American as a sophomore, Fournier is Duke's top returning scorer and rebounder, averaging 17.3 and 7.9, respectively a year ago. She has scored 1,086 points in her career with her 624 last season ranking seventh in Duke single-season history. She has blocked 117 shots in two seasons and is just 15 away from taking over the No. 10 spot on Duke's career list.
The highly touted duo of Fleary and Flemings headline the nation's fourth-ranked recruiting class. A 5-7 point guard from Baltimore, Maryland, Fleary was ranked 13th in the SportsCenter Next rankings. Flemings, a 6-0 guard out of San Antonio, Texas, is coming off a highly decorated scholastic career and was listed No. 18 in the recruiting rankings.
The Blue Devils enter the 2026-27 season as the reigning ACC regular season and tournament champions, capturing both trophies for the first time since 2013. Overall, Duke returns three starters and nine players from last year's ACC Championship team and welcomes the return of the 2025 fourth-ranked recruit Emilee Skinner from injury. Additionally, head coach Kara Lawson welcomed Texas transfer and the No. 5 recruit from the 2025 class Aaliyah Crump along with the talented freshman group.
