CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After helping lead Duke to its fifth consecutive win over a ranked opponent this season with a 1-0 win at then-No. 16 Louisville this past weekend, junior
Kaiya Chepow was tabbed the ACC Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
The honor is Chepow's second of the season, having also garnered ACC Co-Defensive Player of the week recognition Sept. 29.
Chepow posted three saves in the Blue Devils' victory over the Cardinals, including one down the stretch of the fourth quarter to preserve the one-goal advantage. The win was Duke's seventh shutout of the season, tied for the most in the ACC, and also marked the Downingtown, Pennsylvania, native's ACC-leading sixth clean sheet of the year.
For the season, Chepow has collected 32 saves and holds a 0.98 goals against average with a .696 save percentage.
No. 7 Duke wraps up the non-conference portion of its schedule Oct. 25 with a trip to Lynchburg, Virginia, to take on No. 12 Liberty. The opening pass back is set for 1 p.m., with the game streaming live on ESPN+.
