DURHAM, N.C. - Five different players registered at least one RBI as Duke defeated Appalachian State, 10-5, on Tuesday, Feb. 17. The Blue Devils allowed three runs in the first inning but scored seven of the game's next eight runs to seize control of the contest.

RJ Hamilton tallied his second multi-hit game of the young season. On the mound,
Marcello Mastroianni earned the victory as part of a bullpen effort that saw eight different Duke arms take the mound.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The visitors got on the board first, scoring three in the top of the first inning. After a pair of scoreless innings by Duke's offense, the Blue Devils took a lead they wouldn't relinquish, with four runs in the bottom of the third.
- Cider Canon drove in Duke's first run of the afternoon, with an RBI knock to left, driving in Coltin Quagliano. The Blue Devils moved three more runs across the plate courtesy of a hit batter, wild pitch and bases-loaded walk.
- Bobby Marsh continued the scoring next inning, driving in a pair with a opposite-field single with two outs in the fourth.
- After an error in the top of the fifth allowed App State to narrow Duke's lead by a run, Jake Lambdin got the run right back in the bottom half with an RBI single.
- Duke's bullpen held App State scoreless across the next three frames, before the Blue Devils received a two-run single from Tyler Albright in the bottom of the eight. Albright would eventually score on a wild pitch later in the inning, capping off the Blue Devils' 10-run night.
- A late App State run, on a fielder's choice in the top of the ninth, finalized the 10-5 win for Duke.
- On the mound, Peter Lemke and Caleb Anderson both threw two full innings, to lead the Blue Devils' pitching effort. Marcello Mastoianni earned the win, while Lemke led Duke with three strikeouts.
UP NEXT
- Duke (4-1) hosts Milwaukee (0-3) for a four-game set on Feb. 20-22. The two teams are scheduled to open the week on Friday, Feb. 20 at 4 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 21 and the fourth game on Sunday, Feb. 22.Â
- Saturday's first game of the doubleheader will start at 1 p.m., with game two starting no earlier than 30 minutes following the conclusion of game one. The final game of the weekend series is scheduled for a 1 p.m., first pitch on Sunday.
