BOSTON, Mass. – Graduate students
Michael Bennett and
Max Forte garnered All-ACC Second Team accolades in the men's heptathlon to headline the second day of action for Duke track and field at the ACC Indoor Championships.
In addition to the all-conference honorees, nine more Blue Devils punched tickets to the finals of the men's 60-meter hurdles, women's 60 meters, men's and women's 400 meters, women's 800 meters and the women's mile.
Heading into the final day of competition, the Duke women sit in fifth with 18 points while the men rank sixth in the team standings with 20 points.
TOP PERFORMANCES:
- Bennett and Forte wrapped competition in the men's heptathlon Friday, with the pair notching top-five placements and All-ACC Second Team accolades.
- Forte totaled 5,586 points to place fourth overall, with the veteran's best performance coming via second-place outings in the long jump and 1000-meter race. Bennett took fifth with 5,486 points, headlined by a win in the 1000m.
- After helping lead Duke to the gold medal in the women's DMR Thursday evening, graduate student Stephanie Moss clocked 4:38.17 in the mile prelims to secure her spot in the finals.
- Junior Michael Scherk broke through to the 60mH finals behind a blistering personal best of 7.81, shattering the program record that stood since 1971.
- The men's and women's 400m saw four Blue Devils in sophomores Braelyn Baker and Andres Langston and seniors Julia Jackson and Lauren Tolbert advance to the medal round. Langston dashed 46.90 in his preliminary race, while Baker and Tolbert hit the tape in 52.63 and 52.66, respectively. Jackson
- Sophomore Maya Collins and junior Mia Edim both turned in personal bests en route to securing their spots in Saturday's 60m final. Collins earned the automatic qualifier and matched her own school record with a time of 7.29, and Edim improved her No. 2 all-time Duke mark with a finish of 7.33.
- Rounding out the group was graduate student Beck Wittstadt, who finished his 800m race in 1:49.85.

Duke enters the final day of competition at the ACC Indoor Championships. The jam packed Saturday slate kicks off with field events at 11 a.m., before runners take the track for their respective events starting at noon.
