CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Duke women's fencing team capped the weekend with a solid performance at the Miller Invitational, going 4-1 Sunday afternoon to close out regular season competition.

As a team, the Blue Devils earned wins over Air Force (21-6), Boston College (15-12), Brandeis (15-12), and No. 14 Temple (17-10). Individually, junior
Sophia Shen (foil) and senior
Rachel Koo (foil) paced the efforts with eight and seven wins, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Duke opened its Saturday slate on the front foot securing a victory over ACC foe Boston College. The Blue Devil sabres turned in a strong showing (7-2) in the opening match, with freshman Kalina Atanasova spearheading the charge with a 3-0 mark.
- Junior Charlotte Koenig also went 3-0 to help lead Duke to a 5-4 triumph in its foil match. Â
- The Blue Devils fell to second-ranked Notre Dame, 20-7, in their second contest of the day. Six different fencers earned victories in their respective bouts, led by freshman épée Daniella Barg with two.
- Duke issued a great response following its setback to the Fighting Irish. The Blue Devils reeled off three consecutive victories to close out the competition, starting with a win over No.14 Temple. Â
- Shen (3-0), graduate student épée Yeva Mazur (3-0) and junior sabre Victoria Gorman (2-0) combined for 10 wins en route to aiding the team to the triumph over the Owls.
- The Blue Devils dominated in their final victories over the Brandeis and Air Force.
- Gorman, freshman épée Meera Desai, junior foil Zizi Newhard and senior Kunling Tong (sabre) each finished 3-0 in their respective bouts against Brandeis. The quartet were four of seven Duke fencers that went undefeated during the round against the Judges.
- Against the Falcons, Koo (3-0), senior foilist Skylar Knight (3-0) and Shen (2-0) led the charge for the Blue Devils.
