ATLANTA, Ga. – Duke softball used a late rally to defeat Georgia Tech, 6-5, Saturday evening at Mewborn Field.
With the win, the Blue Devils (21-10, 7-1 ACC)Â secured their third conference series victory of the season and fourth straight over the Yellow Jackets (17-16, 5-6 ACC).

Kairi Rodriguez also contributed with multi-hit performances that helped keep the Blue Devils' rallies alive.
Left-handed pitcher
Cassidy Curd was strong in the circle, holding off a seventh-inning surge from the Yellow Jackets to preserve the win. The senior allowed just one run off three hits while punching out a game-high six batters in her 4.0 innings of relief.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Georgia Tech's Addison Leschber homered in the bottom of the second to open the scoring. The Yellow Jackets extended their lead in the following frame with a pair of RBI-doubles to push ahead, 4-0.
- Oakland put Duke on the board in the top of the fourth with a leadoff home run. The Blue Devils then loaded the bases on a single, double and a walk before freshman Gabriella Shadek reached on a fielder's choice, allowing graduate student Tyrina Jones to score from third and cut the gap to 4-2.
- Vega knotted the score at 4-4 with a two-run shot in the top of the fifth that brought in senior D'Auna Jennings. Oakland followed Vega by drawing a walk and moving up on a groundout. Two batters later, Mathis slipped a base hit through the left side to plate Oakland and give Duke the 5-4 advantage.
- Leschber responded with her second home run of the contest in the home half to pull Georgia Tech within one, 6-5.
- The Yellow Jackets threatened again in the final frame, placing the game-winning runs on base with a pair of walks and double to center field, but Curd worked her way out of the bases-loaded jam with a strikeout to maintain the win.
NOTES
- Oakland recorded her second home run of the series and fourth of the season.
- Oakland tallied her seventh multi-RBI outing of the season and third straight game driving in at least two runs.
- Vega launched her seventh long ball on the year for her ninth multi-RBI performance.
- Redshirt freshman Ava Bradshaw started her seventh game of the season, tossing the first 2.1 innings against the Yellow Jackets.
- Curd picked up the win after entering in the bottom of the fourth and improves to 10-2 overall.
- The Blue Devils have won 13 straight contests against the Yellow Jackets.
