DURHAM, N.C. – A nine-run seventh inning, highlighted by twoÂ

Aminah Vega knotted the contest at 14-14 with a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh, setting the stage for Jones.Â
Jones, Vega andÂ
Layla Lamar each hit two home runs whileÂ
KK Mathis andÂ
D'Auna Jennings had one apiece.Â
The Blue Devils improved to 24-11 and 10-2 in ACC play while the Cardinal dips to 20-10 and 9-6 in ACC play.Â
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Stanford's offense was hot from the jump, loading the bases in the first three batters. The Cardinal used a base hit, pair of walks and a fielder's choice to quickly jump ahead 4-0.
- The Blue Devils answered in the bottom of the second with a four-run frame of their own. Jennings put the Blue Devils on the board with a three-run blast to left field, scoring Lamar and redshirt junior Kairi Rodriguez after the duo reached on infield singles. Vega followed suit with a solo home run to knot the score at 4-4.
- Lamar put the Blue Devils in front, 6-4, with her two-run homer in the bottom of the third. Her long ball also brought in Jones from first after slipping a base hit through the left side of the infield.Â
- Stanford immediately responded with another four-run frame in the top of the fourth to regain the lead, 8-6.
- Home runs in the fifth from Mathis and Lamar, her second of the contest, closed the gap and tied the game up again at 8-8.
- Stanford's River Mahler put the Cardinal in front, 9-8, with her solo home run in the top of the sixth.
- The Cardinal piled up runs in the top of the seventh with five to take a 14-8 advantage into the bottom of the frame. Kyra Chan delivered a two-run home run while an Izzy Cacatian pinch-hit single, sacrifice fly and wild pitch brought in the last three runs.Â
- Duke rallied in a big way in the seventh with all nine runs for the walk-off win. Jones opened the frame with a solo shot. A throwing error allowed a second run to score, setting the stage for Vega's game-tying grand. Three batters later, after a single and walk, Jones stepped up again and delivered her second long ball of the contest for the winner.Â
Â
NOTES
- Â Vega launched her second career grand slam in the bottom of the seventh.Â
- Jones recorded the second multi-home run game of her career while Lamar and Vega each tallied their third.Â
- Duke sent out a season-high eight home runs during the contest. The eight long balls were the most in a game since the Blue Devils launched 10 against James Madison on April 12, 2022.
