DURHAM, N.C. – The Blue Devils begin ACC play on the road, traveling to Sacramento, Calif., for a weekend series with California. Friday's opener is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Due to renovations at Levine-Fricke Field, all three games will be held at Sacramento State.
The Blue Devils bring a 12-9 overall record into the first weekend of conference play, including a three-game win streak. Last week, Duke hosted East Carolina in a midweek matchup before welcoming Boston University, Ohio State and Northwestern to Smith Family Stadium for the Duke Invitational.
After dropping their opening game against the Terriers, the Blue Devils bounced back with three straight wins, defeating Northwestern and Ohio State twice. Senior
D'Auna Jennings became Duke softball's all-time hits leader on Friday with a solo home run versus Northwestern, passing
Jameson Kavel's career mark of 252 (2018-2022). A complete game performance from senior pitcher
Cassidy Curd capped the weekend for the Blue Devils with a 3-1 victory over Ohio State. The lefty fanned a season-high 10 batters and did not allow a baserunner to reach scoring position until surrendering a solo home run in the top of the sixth.
Cal (8-14) is coming off a six-game stretch at the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, Calif., over the weekend. Sophomore pitcher Layna Gerhard closed the weekend with the program's first no-hitter in eight years as the Golden Bears defeated East Texas A&M, 16-0, in five innings on Sunday. Junior Anaya Togia continues to power the Cal offense, leading the team in batting average (.368), runs (16), hits (25), doubles (5) home runs (5) and RBI (18).
