DURHAM, N.C. – The second-seeded Blue Devils are set to open action in the 2026 ACC Softball Championship Thursday against 10th-seeded North Carolina at Palmer Park in Charlottesville, Virginia. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.
Duke wrapped up its regular season with a 38-13 overall record and a 20-4 mark in conference action. The Blue Devils won all eight conference series' this season, including sweeps over California, Georgia Tech, Virginia and Boston College. North Carolina (32-18, 9-15 ACC) is coming off a 4-2 win over seventh-seeded Clemson in the opening round of the ACC Championship Wednesday. The Tar Heels capitalized on a pair of wild pitches from Clemson's Shelby Barbee to plate two in the top of the third inning. Sanaa Thompson added an insurance run in the fourth with a long ball to left field to secure the victory over the Tigers.

DUKE IN THE ACC CHAMPIONSHIP
Duke will make its eighth appearance in the ACC Softball Championship. The Blue Devils hold a 10-5 overall record in the tournament and have captured two titles in just nine years. The Blue Devils earned the No. 2 seed for the third time in program lore and are 3-2 when seeded second.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Duke and North Carolina are set to meet for the 23rd time in program history and first time in postseason play. The Blue Devils lead the all-time series, 16-6, following a conference series victory in Chapel Hill earlier this season. Duke has won 15 of the last 16 matchups against the Tar Heels.
