TRALEE, COUNTY KERRY, Ireland – Duke women's golf rising sophomore
Rianne Malixi closed action Sunday at the Arnold Palmer Cup with a 3-1 record to help lead Team International to a 30.5-29.5 victory at Tralee Golf Links in Tralee, County Kerry.
The win for Team International marked the second consecutive Arnold Palmer Cup victory for the squad, which now leads the series, 15-14-1, against the United States. It was the closest margin of victory since 2000.
Malixi, a native of Manila, Philippines, was one of only three women golfers to register three victories over the three days of singles, mixed foursomes, foursomes and mixed four-ball.
In Sunday's singles match against the 12th-ranked amateur in the world, Jasmine Koo, Malixi drained a 40-foot eagle putt on the 18th hole to register a key 1-up win for the Internationals.
Malixi teamed with Patience Rhodes in Saturday's foursomes and defeated Chloe Kovelesky and Avery Weed, 6 and 5. In Friday's mixed four-ball, Malixi and Nguyen Anh Minh earned a 2-up victory over Wheaton Ennis and Farah O'Keefe.
